After School
Kingdom Academy uses VersaTiles language arts and Learning Palettes curriculum for math and science. Both curriculums are self-correcting program that provide individualized practice or enrichment with skill-specific activities for language, math and science. The language program offers intensive language arts instruction with interventions focusing on vocabulary, phonemic awareness, comprehension, journaling and fluency. The math and science program engage the students in standards-based, purposeful math practice by incorporating effective activities that are easy and fun for all students.

Art
“Art is a great way of appreciating the other cultures in our society. When viewing the great art traditions of the Middle East, you may find a new respect for this ancient culture. Or when children view the historical works of their own culture, it builds pride in one's heritage. Art builds bridges of understanding,” ( Lynda Resnick). The art program is conducted by an experienced teacher using research-based curriculum. The art program at KA is aligned with state standards for Visual Arts Education and follow a four-step process: 1) Plan (discussion of styles, techniques, history and vocabulary), 2) Demonstrate (teacher demonstrates techniques; students practice), 3) Do (application of plan), 4) and Review (discussion of results and learning). These approaches align with State and National educational goals that will improve the educational outcomes and lower the dropout rate of the target population by providing intensive instruction with effective strategies that are properly scaffold to meet the individual needs of each participant.

Music

Character Education
Character education is conducted by trained staff using a research-based curriculum. Interactive lessons include literature and hands-on activities that use real-life situations to develop character and teach students community building, conflict resolution, anger management, communication skills, peer mediation, perception and social skills. The students are given opportunity to display what they have learned by integrating their skills in the everyday interactions with their peers, group plays, peer mediation and special projects. Building character strategies include the use of positive remedial tutoring that integrates individual and group lessons, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment focusing on community building and support among peers, providing several options for service learning, allowing students to explore interests, and a strong focus on family engagement activities throughout the year. As the student’s skills in community building, communication, self-control and social increase, their self-esteem and self-advocacy will also increase, facilitating their ability to seek and accept support from their school and work environment.

Fitness Education
As outlined in the President’s challenge, research indicates that to achieve better overall health and fitness, individuals need to participate in activities that include aerobic, muscle strengthening and bone strengthening exercises. Likewise, the fitness component is closely matched to the nutrition component allowing students to set personal fitness goals and improve their overall health. The Physical Fitness program implemented provides both structured fitness activities and personal interest activities. Using the curriculums like the CATCH, students participate in developmentally-appropriate, non-elimination games that include warm-ups, cool downs, Go Fitness, Cardio Efficiency, Aerobic Games, Muscular Strength, Endurance, Flexibility and Limited Space Activities. Students will participate in Physical Fitness activities on a daily basis for 30 minutes in after school and 60 in summer camp.

Computers
Students that participate in computer education acquire basic skills in operating the computer's basic functions. In addition, computers are used to enhance student competency in core subject areas like English and Math. Students might explore the Internet to find illustrations related to subjects they are studying. Science students might browse scientific magazines or websites. Students also use computers to perform research for their assignments.

Nutrition
Research has shown that schools or districts where the nutrition education efforts are coordinated by a person or group have an opportunity to present a more focused message to students about the importance of healthy eating. At KA, qualified teachers will introduce topics in nutrition related to the relationship between diet and health, finding and choosing healthy foods, nutrients and their food sources, the Food Guide Pyramid, and the Dietary Guidelines. KA will complement nutrition component with the CATCH Program. This curriculum is based on the CDC coordinated school health model (as it relates to physical activity, diet, and tobacco prevention) in which eight components work interactively to educate young people about and provide support for a healthy lifestyle. The eight components are: health education, physical education, health services, child nutrition services, counseling and psychological services, healthy school environment, health promotion for staff, and family/community involvement. CATCH employs a holistic approach to child health promotion by targeting multiple aspects of the school environment and involves classroom teachers, Child Nutrition Services, physical education (PE) teachers, students and their families, and the broader school community in a wide range of health-promoting activities for all children.

Organized Sports
Few activities prepare us for a rich and successful life as participating in sports. In fact, we strongly believe such values as teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and integrity are directly related to our students’ athletic activities. Sports breeds a level of growth above and beyond what the classroom can teach—and in fact, often helps elevate a student’s academic life. And most importantly, it’s fun. Incorporated throughout all program components, the organized sport activities is conducted for a minimum of 30 minutes after school and 60 minutes summer camp per day, once per week.
